As part of the ABI training program, ophthalmic eye nurse Mrs. Pring Kimmy was sent to ARAVIND Eye Hospital, India to attend six months training for Orthoptics in Paediatric Ophthalmology and adult strabismus from July to December 2011. After having returned from her training Mrs Kimny took over responsibility for the implementation of a new department for Orthoptics at TEH.One of her first patients was Neang Channy, 13 years old, from Samrong commune, Takeo province. She studies at Pryar Primary School in the 2nd grade. She was identified and referred by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), through their Disability Inclusive Education service. Channy was one of 17 children referred to TEH by CRS.
